Pacemaker/Defibrillator

There are a wide variety of devices that are used in cardiology to help support the heart's electrical function. Pacemakers are used to provide support for the heart when the rate is too slow, and to help hearts that are too weak to beat more efficiently.  Defibrillators are used to shock a heart that is beating too fast and can be lifesaving.

In recent years, the number of patients needing these devices has been increasing as well as their complexity. Merrimack Valley Cardiology created a clinic to monitor patients with these devices. We know that it is crucial for the device to properly function and for proper treatment if its parts are found to be defective and are recalled.

Currently we follow well over 1,000 patients with a variety of devices.  We have two highly trained and experienced nurses in the management of pacemakers and defibrillators.
